This session topic: Emotional regulation for families

Emotional ups and downs are a natural part of family life. But at times, things can feel a little overwhelming.

In this MyTime session, we’ll explore simple, practical ways to support our children’s emotional development, while also looking after our own wellbeing as parents and carers.

We’ll share calming strategies and sensory tools that can help build resilience and create a more settled, connected space for the whole family.

During MyTime we will:

  • Chat over tea/coffee – In some MyTime sessions; members relax over a coffee, talk about their week and share advice and information.
  • Learn something new – In some sessions, the facilitator or a guest speaker might lead discussions on a topic of interest.
  • Take care of yourself – sometimes, the group might have fun with an activity aimed at helping members relax and look after their well-being.

Connecting parents with their peers

MyTime is a unique service for parents and carers of children with a disability, developmental delay or concern about their child’s development.

It’s a regular meeting place where you can unwind, socialise, discuss, get information, and support and be supported by other parents and family carers. It’s a world away from appointments and therapy. It’s support for you!

Members get to plan the group sessions around their specific needs as carers.

MyTime Marrickville is run by parent-peer workers who have shared experience in raising a child with disabilities and delays.

This program is for

Parents, primary carers and family members of children with disability, developmental delay or neurodivergence aged 0-18 years old.
