DESCRIPTION:Connecting parents with their peers \n\n\n\nMyTime is a free peer support program for parents and carers of children with disability\, developmental delay\, concerns about their development\, or a chronic medical condition.It’s a regular meeting place where you can take a break from appointments and daily demands\, connect with other parents and carers\, share experiences\, ask questions\, and explore information and support together. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMembers help shape the group by suggesting discussion topics and activities based on what’s important to them. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMyTime Marrickville is facilitated by parent peer workers who have lived experience raising children with disability or developmental delay. \n\n\n\n\n\nAt MyTime\, you can look forward to: \n\n\n\n\nChat over tea or coffee – in some sessions\, parents and carers catch up\, talk about their week\, and share ideas\, experiences\, and practical tips.\n\n\n\nLearn something new – some sessions include discussions led by the facilitator or a guest speaker on topics chosen by group members.\n\n\n\nTake time for yourself – occasionally the group will try activities that support relaxation and wellbeing.\n\n\n\nBuild connections with other families who understand some of the joys and challenges of raising a child with additional support needs.\n\n\n\n\nDid you know we also offer a Vietnamese-speaking MyTime group? SUMMARY:Connecting with your child through photography
DESCRIPTION:Encourage your child to express themselves with PhotoVoice… and have fun! \n\n\n\nWhat community activities do young children with a disability or developmental delay enjoy at the library or in their communities?  Let them show you with their photos! \n\n\n\nSome children find it easier to share their interests\, preferences and experiences through images instead of words. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn this two-part workshop\, learn to use PhotoVoice\, a simple activity where your child takes photos of things that matter to them. The photos become a starting point for conversations\, helping you learn more about your child’s interests\, preferences\, experiences and perspective. \n\n\n\nFamilies who have done PhotoVoice say it helped them learn more about their child’s interests and perspective. Some also noticed their child becoming more confident in expressing themselves and making choices. \n\n\n\n\n\nCome along to explore: \n\n\n\n\nHow PhotoVoice can support connection and conversation\n\n\n\nWhat your child might choose to photograph\n\n\n\nListening to the stories behind the photos\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn the second session\, parents can reflect on their PhotoVoice experience\, share what they discovered\, ask questions and learn from other families. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpecial offerRegister and attend both sessions to rreceive a free small digital camera so your child can continue to enjoy taking photos after attending the workshop! The focus is on what your child chooses to photograph\, the stories behind the photos and the conversations they create. You do not need any photography experience to participate. 			\n								\n							\n						\n								\n							\n			Do I need a camera?No. Most families use a phone\, tablet or any camera they already have at home.Families who register and attend both sessions will receive a free small digital camera for their child to continue exploring PhotoVoice after the workshop (available to families based in Australia only). 			\n								\n							\n						\n								\n							\n			Do I need to attend both sessions?Yes. This workshop is delivered over two sessions\, and registration automatically enrols you in both.The sessions build on each other. The first session introduces PhotoVoice and gives you practical ideas to try with your child. The second session provides an opportunity to reflect on your experience\, ask questions and learn from other families.Families who attend both sessions will also receive a free small digital camera (available to families based in Australia only). 			\n								\n							\n						\n								\n							\n			How do I join the online sessions?After registering\, you’ll receive an automated confirmation email with the Zoom link and joining instructions.
