DESCRIPTION:Supports and strengthens child-parent relationships \n\n\n\nThe Circle of Security is an evidence-based program that helps build and strengthen child-parent relationships. Research shows that when children have at least one secure relationship with a parent or carer\, they enjoy better health\, stronger relationships\, and greater success in their future education. \n\n\n\nOur online sessions are interactive and designed to create a safe\, supportive space for everyone. Recordings are not shared. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn this program\, you’ll learn to: \n\n\n\n\nUnderstand your child’s emotional world by learning to recognize their emotional needs.\n\n\n\nSupport your child in managing their emotions.\n\n\n\nBuild your child’s self-esteem.\n\n\n\nHonor your inner wisdom and your desire to make your child feel safe and secure.\n\n\n\n\nYou might also be interested to know that we are running a Circle of Security daytime group (Fridays)\, as well as an evening group (Mondays). DESCRIPTION:This registration is for the orientation session only. During this session\, you’ll learn about the It Takes Two to Talk® program\, what participation involves\, and whether it is the right fit for your family. Families who would like to continue can commit for the full program afterwards. \n\n\n\nTo help you decide whether this program is a good fit for your child and family\, we’ve included a suitability chart.  \n\n\n\nIt Takes Two to Talk® is an evidence-based program that helps parents and carers support their young child’s communication and language development through everyday activities such as playtime\, mealtimes and outings. Guided by a Hanen Certified Speech Pathologist\, you’ll learn practical strategies to encourage communication and build your confidence to support your child’s learning throughout the day. \n\n\n\nThe program also provides opportunities to connect with other families and receive personalised support tailored to your child’s strengths and needs. \n\n\n\n\n\nDuring the program you will:  \n\n\n\n\nIdentifying your child’s stage and style of communication\n\n\n\nIdentifying what motivates your child to interact with you\n\n\n\nEncouraging your child to start interactions\n\n\n\nFollowing your child’s lead to encourage continued interaction\n\n\n\nHelping your child take turns and keep interactions going\n\n\n\nDeveloping your child’s expression and understanding\n\n\n\n\nIt Takes Two To Talk teaches you how to become your child’s most important language teacher. \n\n\n\nOur online sessions are interactive and designed to create a safe\, supportive space for everyone. Recordings are not shared. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram structure\nIt Takes Two To Talk is an online 13-week program and includes: \n\n\n\n\n1 commitment-free orientation session\n\n\n\n1 pre-program individual consultation with a Hanen speech pathologist to assess your child and set communication goals\n\n\n\n8x weekly online group sessions; 2.5/3 hours each\n\n\n\n3 individual video feedback online sessions that take place between the group sessions for parents—you and your child are recorded while playing. Then you and the speech pathologist review and discuss the recording to see what’s working and how you can modify strategies to help your child\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho is this program for\n\n\n\nFor parents and carers of young children under the age of 5 who have a language delay.The group is limited to a maximum of six families\, to support participation and personalised feedback. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen\n\n\n\n– Orientation session: Tuesday 4 August; 7.30pm  AEST/ NSW\, ACT\, VIC and TAS time \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n– Pre-program family consultation: Between Wednesday 19 August and Wednesday 26 August– Online group sessions: Every Tuesday durign school term\, from 1 September to Tuesday 1 December; 6.30pm to 9.30pm AEST/ NSW\, ACT\, VIC and TAS time– Individual video feedback sessions: by appointment with parents (Wednesday 23 September\, Wednesday 14 October\, Wednesday 11 November and Wednesday 18 November) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere\n\n\n\nDelivered online via Zoom. DESCRIPTION:A workshop on helping children feel confident when visiting your library Some children prefer familiar routines and may feel anxious when going to new places\, including the library. A simple social story can help prepare them for the day and enjoy the experience.  \n\n\n\nSocial stories or social scripts are a research‑informed practical tool to help all children understand what to expect and feel more at ease. In this workshop\, you will learn how to create a social story tailored for your library that families can print or access online. Social stories can explain routines\, spaces and experiences in a clear\, friendly way to support a smoother\, more confident visit.  \n\n\n\nFacilitated by a librarian\, a parent peer worker and a specialist early childhood teacher\, this practical session will give you the tools to make your library more welcoming and inclusive.
