About the program
More Than Words™ — The Hanen Program® for Parents of young Autistic children who may benefit from social communication support
The More Than Words™ Program focuses on your natural, day-to-day life with your child. You’ll discover how to take everyday activities like meal time, story time and bath time and use them to help your child improve their communication and social skills.
Topics this program includes:
- What motivates your child to communicate
- How to use your knowledge about your child to set appropriate and realistic goals
- How to make interactions with your child last longer
- Tips for using pictures and print to help your child’s understanding
- Strategies for how to talk so that your child understands you
- Strategies for developing your child’s play skills
- Ways to help your child make friends
Orientation Session
During this session you will learn:
- About the Hanen More Than Words program
- How the online program will be scheduled
- The starting dates and costs
It will also provide you with an opportunity to ask questions.

This program is for
Parents, carers and family members of Autistic children under the age of 6 without verbal language or who are using single words to communicate.
When
Tuesday 4 June, 7.30pm to 9.00pm* AEDT/NSW Time
*Make sure to adjust to your time zone
The program will likely run in Term 2 and Term 3 on Tuesday nights 7.30pm to 10pm AEDT/NSW time.
Where
This event is held online using Zoom. Instructions will be emailed to you prior to the event.
If you have accessibility needs, please advise during registration.

Resources
To participate in this program, parents and carers must purchase an eBook manual from Amazon.com.au independently. The manual costs approximately $59 and you will receive a link to it once the program is confirmed.
