Karen is a senior Occupational Therapist at Plumtree with over 25 years of experience supporting children and families. She is our OT lead practitioner and brings a wealth of knowledge and warmth to her work.
Karen is passionate about:

  • meeting the child and family where they are at,
  • working with the whole family,
  • ollowing the child’s lead while setting safe and supportive boundaries,
  • using creativity as a powerful way for children to express themselves,
  • working within her local community,
  • exploring nature based play.

She values family-centred, strengths-based and coaching approaches, and loves working in partnership with all the important people in a child’s life. She is currently learning about polyvagal theory and the role of the nervous system in collaboration with each of our unique sensory profile to be able to regulate ourselves and others (co-regulation).

At Plumtree, Karen co-facilitates our Nature Playgroups and Parent Learning sessions, including Sensory Processing and Toilet Training (see our calendar for upcoming dates). She is also enjoying working closely with staff in childcare centres and preschools to create sensory-friendly spaces for children.
