This dynamic program is thoughtfully designed to help your child transition confidently into Kindergarten. Led by an experienced occupational therapist and early childhood teacher, each engaging session will help your child build the essential skills needed for a successful start to school.
Program outcomes:
- Listening and speaking: Building communication skills.
- Following instructions and answering questions: Enhancing comprehension and response.
- Pre-literacy skills: Developing rhyming and letter-sound awareness.
- Fine motor skills: Improving pencil grip, drawing, writing, and cutting.
- Problem-solving and independence: Encouraging self-reliance and critical thinking.
- Social skills: Making friends, initiating conversations, turn-taking, and managing emotions.
- Attention and concentration: Increasing focus during tasks.
- Family involvement: We’ll give you suggestions and ideas for continuing to support your child’s skill development at home.
Program overview
Four daily sessions, 1.5 hours each, include face-to-face time with the children with disabilities or developmental concerns who will be starting mainstream Kindergarten. This is followed by a brief feedback session with parents. We’ll provide resources, activities, and strategies to practice at home during this time.
This program is held indoors and will proceed regardless of the weather.
When
Held during the school holidays. Dates TBC.
Parents/carers must stay on-site during the program. A waiting room will be available to minimize noise and distractions.
