Plumtree’s online services:
Bringing therapy and support to you

At Plumtree, we make it easier for your child to get the support they need—wherever you are.
With Telehealth (also known as Telepractice), you can meet with us online or by phone from the comfort of your home, your workplace, or even while out and about.

Telehealth is safe, well-researched, and used widely across Australia and the world. Many families find it just as helpful as face-to-face sessions.

How does it work?

We’ve been offering online sessions since 2018 and phone sessions since 2008. These sessions are similar to in-person ones. We’ll:

  • Work together on your goals
  • Explore strategies to support your child
  • Brainstorm ideas that suit your everyday life

You can join using a smartphone, tablet, or computer—whatever works best for you.

We can also hold parent-only sessions by phone, which can be helpful when there’s a lot to talk about or when you need a private chat.

When telehealth might help

Telehealth sessions are flexible and can be helpful when:

  • Your child is sick and can’t attend a face-to-face session
  • You’d like to talk privately without your child present
  • Some parts of the session don’t require your child to be there
  • It’s easier to fit in a video or phone session than a face-to-face one
  • You’ve moved and are waiting for new services to begin
  • You want to meet with educators or school staff—especially during holidays
  • Staying connected with you helps us work closely with teachers and other professionals so everyone is on the same page.

What you can expect

Before your first session, your therapist or educator will contact you to plan the session and help you set up. Sessions may include time focused on your child, as well as parent-only discussions, depending on your needs.

Working Together

We support families online just as we do in person.
Your therapist or educator will partner with you, offering practical strategies and encouragement. Together, we’ll focus on your goals and celebrate progress—big and small.

Talking to your child about sickness

It’s normal for children to get sick from time to time. When this happens, Telehealth can help you stay on track with your goals through parent-only sessions.
Our blog Staying safe from germs shares tips for talking to children about sickness, including those who are non-verbal. It also shows how to model ways your child can let you know they’re feeling unwell. Helpful downloadable resources are included.

Online services work—and the research agrees
