What community activities do young children with a disability or developmental delay enjoy at the library or in their communities?
Let them show you with their photos!

Some children are better at expressing their likes or dislikes through images instead of words. In this two-part workshop, learn to use PhotoVoice: an activity where you encourage your child to take photos of activities and places they enjoy, or do not like and find challenging.

We would like to focus this session on outings to libraries (though not exclusively).

Families who have done PhotoVoice say that it helped their child become more confident in expressing themselves and making their own choices.

Our online sessions are interactive and designed to create a safe, supportive space for everyone. Recordings are not shared.

Come along to explore:

  • How PhotoVoice enhances family engagement
  • What photos can your child take
  • Describing the photos in your child’s voice
  • How to upload the photos

In the second session, parents can ask further questions about this project and discuss their picture-taking experience.

Special offer

Register and attend both sessions to receive a FREE small digital camera so your child can continue to enjoy taking photos after attending the workshop!
(Available to families based in Australia only)

Plumtree is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that helps families thrive.

Trusted for 40 years, we work alongside children and families in the early years to build confidence, capability and inclusion. Plumtree provides therapy and specialist support for children from birth to 8 years in everyday settings — at home, in the community, online or at our Marrickville centre.

We also offer free playgroups, workshops and programs for all families, along with an inclusive preschool where children of all abilities learn together.

Our work is co-designed with families, including programs like Now & Next and Pictability, and we partner with organisations and government to build more inclusive communities.
