What community activities do young children with a disability or developmental delay enjoy at the library or in their communities? Let them show you with their photos!

Some children find it easier to share their interests, preferences and experiences through images instead of words.

In this two-part workshop, learn to use PhotoVoice, a simple activity where your child takes photos of things that matter to them. The photos become a starting point for conversations, helping you learn more about your child’s interests, preferences, experiences and perspective.

Families who have done PhotoVoice say it helped them learn more about their child’s interests and perspective. Some also noticed their child becoming more confident in expressing themselves and making choices.

Come along to explore:

  • How PhotoVoice can support connection and conversation
  • What your child might choose to photograph
  • Listening to the stories behind the photos

In the second session, parents can reflect on their PhotoVoice experience, share what they discovered, ask questions and learn from other families.
