Everything your child needs to develop their skills is readily available in the bush.
Plumtree Nature Play is about slowing down, having fun outside and enjoying time together in the bush.
Join us to discover simple ways children learn through outdoor play. Nature provides endless opportunities for exploring, creating, moving, connecting and having fun.
Each day in the bush is different.
Activities are guided by children’s interests, the weather and what we discover around us on the day.
Learning outcomes could include:
- Build independence through exploration and everyday self-help skills
- Connect with other children through shared outdoor experiences
- Explore, create and solve problems using natural materials
- Learn through play, movement and discovery in a natural environment
Activities might include
- Making mud pies
- Building with sticks, leaves and other natural materials
- Slowing down to notice and explore small wonders in nature
- Climbing rocks and creating nature-based art and craft
- Discovering different textures, sounds and sights in the bush
This program is for
Families of children aged 0 to 8 years who have a disability, developmental delay, are neurodivergent, or where there are concerns about their development.
We can welcome up to eight children in each group (plus siblings).
When
Wednesday 7 October 2026,
10am to 12pm
Parents are required to stay on-site and are warmly encouraged to take part.

The session may be cancelled if fewer than four children are registered.
Cost
This program is currently provided free of charge through Plumtree Children’s Services. The equivalent cost under the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits is $193.
Where
Wolli Creek Regional Park – Girrahween Picnic Area – Wolli Creek (NSW)
On the land of the Bidjigal people (River Flat Clan) of the Eora Nation.
Families will need to make their own way to the site.

Your facilitators
Nature Play is facilitated by experienced occupational therapists registered with AHPRA. Families are supported to explore, play and learn together in a relaxed outdoor environment.
Additional info
| Your child’s supervision | Parents are required to supervise and participate with their children for the full session. |
| Lunch/Snacks | Please bring your own picnic lunch, snacks and water bottle. No nuts, please. |
| Weather | The group will go ahead in most weather and will only be cancelled in extreme conditions. |
| Dress ready to get messy | Please dress appropriately for the weather and for outdoor play. We recommend clothes that can get dirty, closed-toe shoes, hats and sunscreen if sunny, and raincoats and gumboots if wet weather is forecast. |
| Toilets | Please note that toilet facilities are not available at the activity location. Families may wish to plan accordingly before arriving. |
| Getting there | Families will need to make their own way to Wolli Creek Regional Park, Girrahween Picnic Area. |
